Aqaba Achieves Bronze Award in Green Destinations Certification Awards in Montpellier

Aqaba has been recognised on the global stage for its commitment to sustainable tourism, achieving the bronze level certification at the prestigious Green Destinations Awards held yesterday in Montpellier.
This milestone marks a significant step in Aqaba’s sustainability journey. Since 2021, Acorn Tourism Consulting has been supporting the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) to embed responsible tourism practices across the destination. In 2023, Aqaba earned a place in the Green Destinations Top 100 Stories list, celebrating its innovative projects to balance economic growth with environmental stewardship.
The Bronze certification now demonstrates measurable progress across environmental, social, and cultural indicators. From strengthening waste management and conservation efforts to engaging local communities in tourism development, Aqaba has shown that sustainability is not just a vision but an achievable reality.
