Improving Tourism Intelligence in Albania
25th March 2022
The World Bank funded Project of Integrated Urban and Tourism Development (PIUTD) in Albania has contracted Acorn to assess and make recommendations for the improvement of their tourism intelligence systems.
Whilst the PIUTD is focussed on four designated municipalities in the south of Albania: Saranda, Gjirokastra, Berat and Përmet and how tourism can be measured and tracked at a local level, this project also has a national perspective, to review the current system of tourism statistics in Albania and make clear recommendations for updating it to provide more effective information for developing the tourism sector. The aim is to also develop the technical specifications of an online tourism information system that will collect, store and disseminate data for the benefit of all stakeholders with an interest in the tourism sector. Finally, an assessment will be made of the feasibility and cost of compiling the national Tourism Satellite Account (TSA).
