Azraq Wetland Reserve have been announced as winners of their category

On the 7th March 2023 at ITB Berlin, the Azraq Wetland Reserve in Jordan were announced the winners of the Nature & Scenery Category for Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards 2022! Acorn have been working with Azraq as part of our ongoing work in Jordan with the Centre of Promotion of Imports (CBI).
Established in 1978, the reserve is a major station for migratory birds on the African-Eurasian flyway. However, due to local water pumping the body of water that used to be a thriving eco system had reduced to cover 0.4% of the area it used to cover. Through incredible efforts and management with Conservation of Nature (RSCN) the oasis was rehabilitated to 10% of its original space. Alongside this, they have created economical and educational opportunities for local communities.
Our Director, Alison was lucky enough to have been able to attend the awards and watch the inspirational and well-deserved destinations accept their prizes on stage.
