AdventureELEVATE Near East Event, Jordan

In mid October Alison attended and presented as part of a panel at the AdventureELEVATE, Near East Event in Amman, Jordan run by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA). The event has been set up to help promote inbound tour operators in the Middle East to outbound tour operators and travel agents throughout the world and highlight the amazing opportunities that are available in this area.
Alison was on the panel for a session called ‘Achieving the Vision of Responsible Travel in the Near East’ hosted by Duha Fayyad, President of the Jordan Trail Association. The other speakers included H.E Nayef AlFayez, Chief Commissioner of ASEZA and Nada Raphael, Co-Founder & Co-Owner of TourLeb.
The theme of Alison’s talk was on the roles that both the private and public sector must take in driving forward sustainable tourism destinations. She discussed the evidence around consumer demand for sustainable travel options and how businesses can put these options in front of consumers. However, to do this they need support from government, regional authorities, destination managers and national tourist boards by setting legal frameworks, policy, strategy, regulations, investment with product development support and marketing.
