Driving Sustainable Excellence in the Falkland Islands

This month, our Managing Director, Kevin Millington, is conducting the annual Excellence in Tourism and Green Seal inspections for the Falkland Islands Tourist Board, ensuring that tourism businesses across the islands uphold the highest standards in sustainability, quality, and visitor experience.

This program, central to the Falkland Islands’ vision for responsible tourism, highlights Acorn’s commitment to delivering practical, measurable solutions that align with local priorities while inspiring global best practices.

Promoting Excellence Across the Islands

This year, Kevin is working closely with 44 serviced and self-catering accommodations, alongside 15 tour operators and food and drink providers, assessing their performance against the Excellence in Tourism and Green Seal criteria. These inspections are designed to:

Encourage sustainability: By promoting renewable energy, waste reduction, and low-impact practices.

Foster community engagement: Highlighting and supporting locally-owned, culturally relevant businesses.

Drive quality assurance: Delivering exceptional visitor experiences that align with international standards.

Among the highlights of this year’s inspections is the Falklands’ only glamping pod, a one-of-a-kind accommodation that seamlessly blends comfort and environmental consciousness—showcasing the innovation and creativity that define the Falklands’ tourism offering.
