Acorn Tourism starts tourism statistics project in The Gambia
26th May 2025
Acorn Tourism has started work on the Tourism Diversification and Resilience in The Gambia Project (TDRGP), funded by the World Bank.
Over the next two years, we will support the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to improve the country’s tourism data systems. This includes implementing a system of tourism statistics, developing a Tourism Satellite Account (TSA), and establishing an online tourism statistics database using the T-Stats platform.
The project will involve formal training sessions, ongoing mentoring, and the rollout of key data collection tools such as inbound, cruise, and domestic visitor surveys. It will also improve data gathering from accommodation providers, visitor attractions, and digital channels.
By strengthening data availability and quality, this project will help provide a clearer picture of tourism’s role in The Gambia’s economy and support more effective planning and decision-making across the sector.
