Benchmarking Business Sustainability in the North York Moors National Park
27th January 2025
Acorn Tourism is working with the North York Moors National Park Authority and VisitEngland on the North York Moors Sustainable Travel Project. The overarching goal of this initiative is to assess the current status of sustainable operations of tourism businesses in the National Park by using the Green Destinations Business Sector Sustainability Scan framework, which utilises international standards to evaluate business practices.
This initiative will help the North York Moors National Park Authority gain valuable insights into the current sustainability practices within the area, enabling them to tailor future support effectively. The survey results will also guide the selection of 10-15 businesses to participate in the Sustainable Tourism Project, which will support these businesses on their sustainability journey and aims to inspire people within the Belgium, Dutch and German markets, to travel to the North York Moors without flying and to take short breaks in the National Park region.
The survey is now LIVE, and businesses have already begun sharing their responses! By the end of February, a comprehensive report on Business Sector Sustainability will provide an overview of the region's sustainability status. Participating businesses will gain insights into their sustainability practices and be equipped to continue their efforts for improvement, ensuring they remain competitive in the rapidly growing market for sustainable travel.
