Climate crisis and changing priorities post-COVID stimulates demand for sustainability in tourism
25th January 2022
Acorn Tourism’s latest report drawing on its extensive knowledge of supporting tourism businesses to embed sustainability into all parts of their operations has found there is a clear and urgent demand from travellers for taking sustainable holidays.
Not only is the health of the planet of serious concern to travellers, but in a post-COVID world, a re-evaluation of what is important has also become front of mind. Living more responsibly and making sustainable choices is becoming the norm. The days of mass tourism may be limited as more and more people actively seek to minimise the harmful impact of travel and tourism, and make positive contributions however they can.
A business guide aimed to support SMEs in developing countries to adopt sustainable elements throughout their business, the report is part of Acorn Tourism’s work with the CBI, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. Using a wide range of trusted sources and extensive and robust research methods, the guide provided practical tips and ideas to help SMEs to make the necessary changes towards a more sustainable future and contribute to a healthier planet.
