T-Stats for the Seychelles
23rd June 2021
The Seychelles National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has engaged Acorn to implement its T-Stats destination tracking system. T-Stats will be used to digitalise the monthly accommodation survey that is administered by NBS, and will allow for the analysis and reporting of the performance of the accommodation sector much more rapidly than is currently possible. T-Stats will also allow the Seychelles to track occupancy and average room rates of properties being sold through Airbnb.
Once these areas have been established and the industry has been introduced to the new system it is hoped that some of the other powerful features of T-Stats will be utilised such as tracking visitor arrivals, domestic ferry and flight passenger movements, cruise passenger arrivals, website use, and social media marketing performance.
Prior to the COVID pandemic the Seychelles received over 380,000 tourists annually. Over 70% of these travel from Europe, with the UK, Germany and France being the largest markets.
