Manor Farm at Kirmond le Mire

About

Summary

Acorn Tourism Consulting was engaged to assess and recommend sustainable re-use options for the 19th-century model farm buildings at Manor Farm in Kirmond le Mire, Lincolnshire. The goal was to identify ways to preserve the farm's historical value while establishing its functional viability for future generations.

Our Approach

The approach involved a consultative process, beginning with a comprehensive site analysis and contextual assessment. A SWOT analysis was conducted to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to the site's redevelopment potential. Additionally, an interpretive appraisal was completed to highlight the historical and cultural significance of the farm buildings. Various re-use options were explored, with a speciality cheese-making facility emerging as the preferred solution. This option aligned well with local agricultural practices and met market demand, creating a sustainable re-use scenario.

Outcome

The final report included a summary of indicative costs and a set of recommended next steps aimed at advancing sustainable conservation. The proposal not only preserves the site’s historical importance but also fosters stronger community connections and educational opportunities centred on the region's agricultural heritage. This solution positions Manor Farm as a valued asset in Lincolnshire, combining economic viability with cultural preservation.
